Research in Asturias means working in a unique environment, where natural diversity, industrial history and cultural identity offer a broad field for multiple disciplines. This autonomous community in northern Spain combines a solid network of academic and scientific institutions with a social and geographical environment that favours innovation, critical analysis and rigorous observation.
The Principality’s scientific and technological ecosystem is made up of public and private institutions and centres that in some cases focus their activity on research and in others combine research with teaching, dissemination activities or the exploitation of results, as in the R&D&I centres of companies.
The mission of the Foundation for the Promotion of Scientific Research and Technology in Asturias is to promote, encourage and promote research, technological development and innovation activities in all aspects of economic and social life that can contribute to the development and improvement of the living conditions of the Asturian community.
